Nintendo Switch Save Data
Nintendo Switch cartridges do not contain save data. Save data is instead stored on the console’s internal memory.
A user’s save data is associated with that user’s Nintendo Account. If a user creates a new Nintendo Account, their save data will be associated with that account. If a user deletes their Nintendo Account, their save data will be deleted.
If a user’s console is lost or stolen, they can recover their save data by re-downloading the game from the Nintendo eShop and linking their Nintendo Account to the console.
If a user’s console is replaced, they can transfer their save data to the new console by linking their Nintendo Account to the new console.

Where does Nintendo Switch save data?
Nintendo Switch saves data in two different places – internally on the console, and on Nintendo’s servers. Your save data is automatically backed up to Nintendo’s servers, so if your console ever breaks or is lost, you can download your save data to a new console and continue playing. The amount of save data that’s stored on Nintendo’s servers is limited, however, so if you delete your save data, it will be permanently deleted from Nintendo’s servers.
Is switch save data tied to account?
Is switch save data tied to account?
Nintendo has not yet released a statement on whether or not switch save data is tied to account, so the answer to this question is currently unknown. However, there are a few things we can infer from how Nintendo handles save data on other platforms.
On Nintendo’s older platforms, such as the Wii and 3DS, save data was tied to the console rather than the account. This meant that if you wanted to access your save data on a different console, you had to transfer the data manually.
However, with the release of the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo switched to a new account-based system. This system allows players to access their save data from any console that they are signed in to. So, it’s likely that the Switch will also use this account-based system for save data.
While we can’t say for sure whether or not switch save data is tied to account, it’s likely that it is. If you want to be sure that your save data is backed up, you may want to create a Nintendo account and sign in to it on a regular basis.
How is data saved on the switch?
How does the switch save data?
The switch saves data by recording packets that are sent and received. When a packet is sent, the switch stores the source and destination MAC addresses, as well as the time that the packet was sent. When a packet is received, the switch stores the source and destination MAC addresses, as well as the time that the packet was received. By recording the source and destination MAC addresses, the switch can keep track of the flow of traffic on the network.
