What was announced at the Nintendo Direct?
Nintendo just hosted their latest Nintendo Direct and announced a lot of new games and features coming to the Switch and 3DS in the near future. Let’s take a look at some of the highlights from the presentation.
First and foremost, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was officially announced. The game will include every character from past Smash games, as well as a few new ones. Ridley from the Metroid series will be joining the fight, and Simon Belmont from Castlevania will also be appearing as a playable character. Ultimate will also include a new battle mode called “Smashdown” in which players will start with a limited number of characters and will lose access to them as they are defeated.
Nintendo also announced that a new Animal Crossing game is in development. The game is set in a “new, modern world” and will allow players to visit their friends’ towns. A release date has not yet been announced.
Luigi’s Mansion 3 was also announced. The game will be set in a hotel and will feature new gameplay mechanics such as Gooigi, a Luigi made out of goo that can pass through walls and enemies.
